Nineteen students got some much deserved recognition when inducted into the National Honor Society earlier this month. They join the 11 existing members and sponsor Cary Scarbrough.
The new members were inducted at the library Nov. 7. Several people spoke about being in NHS such as Principal Darrel Adkison. Food was also served.
“It’s an honor to be in NHS,” junior Robbie White said. “Doing all that hard work knowing all of it paid off; it’s great to be recognized for that.”
To become a member of this prestigious group, candidates must have at least a 4.5 GPA on a 6-point scale and be involved in school as a whole.
“The new members should enjoy their tenure on NHS,” senior Jacob Sanchez said. “It will go by quick.”
For sophomores and freshmen who are interested in being in NHS when they become juniors, White has some advice.
“Don’t give up,” he said. “I know it’s hard work giving up going to the game or hanging out with your friends. It’s a lot of work, and it’s never-ending. But just keep up the work and hope that it will pay off in the end.”
